Vaughan was busy enjoying university life, partying and mountain biking when, what he thought was a toothache, turned into a diagnosis of Burkitt’s Lymphoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Treatment was transferred to the Teenage Cancer Trust in Cardiff and a ‘Home from Home’ allowed Vaughan, and mum Francesca, time to relax and sleep soundly between bouts of chemotherapy.

As Vaughan said, “The flat provided an incredible home like experience and somewhere I could meet my friends and family without having to bring them into a hospital environment. I would often forget I was in Cardiff for hospital treatment as the fully furnished flat was more like a home than temporary accommodation.”
