Latest appeal - the next step towards Southampton!

Southampton...
The Children's Unit at Southampton General Hospital and the Neonatal Unit at the Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton will be our next 'Home from Home' project. The site has been chosen and plans are underway to begin building. The 'Home from Home' will be in the most perfect location only two short minutes walk from both hospitals.

The Children's Unit at Southampton Hospital cares for children with a wide range of conditions requiring treatment interventions that are specialised and not available at local hospitals. The hospital takes patients from all over the South of England, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands as well as locally. They are in no doubt that having a facility, which would allow parents to be nearby would greatly impact a child¹s recovery rate.

The Neonatal Unit at the Princess Anne Hospital is a medical and surgical unit, which takes the smallest and more complex babies from the local area as well as from far afield. The fetal medicine department also take referrals from a wide area. The Unit specialises in the care of sick newborn babies those requiring neonatal surgery and those with cardiac conditions requiring both medical and surgical treatment. Private, self-contained accommodation will be of particular importance for families who suffer the loss of a baby. Unfortunately, due to the nature and complexity of some of the babies that the Unit cares for this is a situation they have to be able to deal with.
