Hole in one!

The Max Clifford Celebrity Golf Challenge held on the Costa del Sol 11-14 June has proved, yet again, to be one of the greatest events in the Rhys Daniels Trusts calendar. The event was sponsored by our KEY Partner Sponsors Pimlico Plumbers and Lee Demolition, and our PART Sponsors Southwark Scrap Metals, Blu-3, Eurotec, PSG and Novelli's.

Held at the stunning La Cala Resort in Mijas Costa the event kicked off with a Welcome Dinner where guests were entertained by Bobby Davro, Kenny Lynch, Stan Boardman and Des O’Connor and celebrity players including Andy Gray, Gary McAllister, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Craig Fairbrass plus a host of others were matched to their golf teams. 39 golf teams played two courses over two days competing for the coveted Rhys & Charly trophy amongst other prizes.

After the 36 hole tournament Bermondsey Lads Team 1 were victorious with Regency Building Services taking the runners up trophies. Stan Boardman bagged a ‘Nearest the Pin’ trophy along with John Wright from NDM Roofing Team 2. Longest Drive winners were Chris Park from Blu-3 and Phil Mainwaring from Harris & Careford’s Team 1. Best individual prize went to Jason Stuart and best celebrity scorer was Craig Fairbrass. The weekend of non-stop fun and entertainment included an evening at Club La Costa’s stunning California Beach Resort where the golfers and guests could relax and reflect on their first day’s play whilst enjoying a poolside barbecue.

The event, as always, finished in style with the sell out Butterfly Ball held at the stunning Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella. Over 400 guests, including Chris Eubank, were entertained by Stephen Lloyd Morgan, Austin Drage (X-Factor 2008) Tee Green and Masquerade and the whole weekend raised an incredible £150,000 for the Rhys Daniels Trust.
