At midday on Saturday 25th April Daz Carre began his ultra-marathon challenge at the Footes Lane sports stadium in Saint Peter Port in Guernsey.
24 hours and 271 laps later, which equates to around 63.4 miles, Daz crossed the finish line. There to meet him was Jonah Gillingham – the reason Daz chose to raise money for the Rhys Daniels Trust.
Jonah, from Guernsey, underwent a bone marrow transplant in November 2014 and his family were offered Charly’s ‘Home from Home’ in Bristol. It was there they all spent Christmas together.
Daz said he enjoyed every minute of his challenge despite battling hot, cold, rainy and windy weather conditions over the 24 hours and ending up with very sore feet!
People like Daz are an inspiration and we can’t thank him enough.
