Max Clifford Hole in one! Our 11th Anniversary event raises an incredible £92,950 for our 'Home from Home' Appeal –thanks to everyone who supported this annual fundraising golfing challenge! Location: La Cala Resort, Costa del Sol, Spain Money raised for the Trust from this event: £92,950 Extra Information: When PR guru and Patron of the Rhys Daniels Trust introduced the charity to La Cala Resort on Spain’s Costa del Sol for a fundraising golf event in 2000 no-one envisaged that 11 years later the event would become the success it has. The 2011 event began on June 9th when golfers enjoyed a practice round and then relaxed at the Welcome Dinner, which was hosted by Mike Osman and where they were entertained by Tee Green, Stan Boardman and the fabulous Sam Kane. Some familiar celebrity faces were also welcomed back for the celebrity golf draw, namely Roger Kitter, Chris Simmons, Craig Fairbrass, Steve Sedgley, Dave Beasant, DJ Spoony and Jess Conrad. They were joined this year by Gareth Gates, Stacey Solomon, Nick Knowles and boxer Tyson Fury plus Rodney Marsh and Alex Walkinshaw. The first day’s play was on the Europa course with 20 teams competing for a variety of prizes over the two day competition. On Friday evening golfers and guests relaxed at a poolside BBQ with a selection of entertainment provided by Frankie Valentine, Lewis Simmons, John Summerton, Tony Roberts and Leanne Jarvis. The presentation of fun awards at the end of day one added to the atmosphere. Asia course was the challenge for day two and the eventual winning team was Gerbil Hotspurs captained by Kevin Gray with their celebrity player Rodney Marsh. Stan Boardman took the prize for overall winning celebrity and young Jordan Abbasciano, aged just 18, was the best non-celebrity player.
